  • At Brolga Cranes and Equipment Pty Ltd., we are committed to creating a safe and healthy workplace through Fitness for Duty. Our objective is to minimise the risk to our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate.

    It is the responsibility of all Brolga employees to ensure they are fit for duty. This means that they are physically and mentally fit to carry out their duties in a manner which does not compromise or threaten their health and safety and/or the health and safety of others.

    We recognise that an individual’s fitness for duty can be affected for a variety of factors including but not limited to stress, fatigue, injury, illness, alcohol, and other drugs.

    MANAGEMENT WILL:

    • Ensure, as far as reasonably practicable, that all individuals are fit for work to minimise risk to both themselves and others

    • Promote physical, psychological and emotional health to encourage safe work practices

    • Promote behaviours and attitudes which are conductive to health and safety in the workplace

    • Make every effort to assist employees who wish to seek treatment or rehabilitation for drug or alcohol dependency

    • Minimise the adverse effects of fatigue, work environment and excessive hours by implementing risk-based processes and procedures

    • Conduct fitness for work assessments including drug and alcohol testing as required

    • Manage injury and illness for employees to return to work in a safe and timely manner

    EMPLOYEES WILL:

    • Manage their physical and psychological health to enable them to meet the requirements of their position

    • Attend work in a state that will not put themselves or others at risk

    • Co-operate with Brolga’s fitness for duty requirements which includes testing for drugs and/or alcohol

    • Report to their Manager immediately if they have become unfit for duty or if they suspect others have become unfit during any part of their

    shift

    MANAGEMENT WILL:

    • Provide and maintain a work environment free from risks to health and safety

    • Provide and maintain safe equipment, structures and safe systems of work

    • Provide information, instruction and training to enable all workers to work safely

    • Supervise workers to ensure work activities are performed safely

    • Consult with and involve workers on matters relating to health, safety and wellbeing

    • Collaborate with customers and employees to identify, eliminate or control risks to quality, health, safety and environmental performance

    • Provide appropriate safety equipment and personal protective equipment

    • Provide a suitable injury management and return to work program

    • Embed a culture whereby employees are encouraged to discuss health and safety issues and concerns

    EMPLOYEES WILL:

    • Comply with all Work Health and Safety requirements

    • Take reasonable care for their own health and safety

    • Take reasonable care that what they do doesn’t adversely affect the health and safety of others

    • Follow all safe work procedures, instructions, and rules provided by the company

    • Participate in health and safety related training

    • Report all hazards, incidents and near misses immediately

    • Use safety equipment and personal protective equipment as instructed and when required

    • Engage in consultation with management to identify, assess and control hazards and the effectiveness of such controls

  • Brolga Cranes and Equipment Pty Ltd is committed to exceeding customer, statutory and regulatory requirements and in continuous improvement of our Quality Management System(QMS).

    We aim to continually improve the service we provide to exceed our clients’ expectations.

    MANAGEMENT WILL:

    • Conduct regular reviews of business policies to identify opportunities for improvement

    • Improve our systems, procedures and processes through formally monitoring and review processes

    • Maintain equipment to meet or exceed applicable standards

    • Identify and implement corrective and preventative control measures to address product and service non conformances

    • Review resources to confirm that they continue to be sufficient to meet requirements

    • Educate and train our employees to improve their skills, awareness and knowledge

    • Encourage and empower our employees to participate in quality improvement activities through teamwork and consultation

    • Ensure sustainable performance through long term, mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholders and customers

    • Implement the QMS in compliance with ISO 9001

    EMPLOYEES WILL:

    • Comply with all QMS requirements

    • Take reasonable care to ensure all work meets the Brolga Cranes and Equipment Pty Ltd quality expectations

    • Follow all Brolga Cranes and Equipment Pty Ltd procedures and processes

    • Participate in required training, audits and improvement processes

    • Report any problems or potential improvements to management as soon as possible

    A Management Representative shall be appointed to ensure the QMS is established, implemented, maintained, and improved.

  • In conducting our business, Brolga Cranes and Equipment Pty Ltd Management team take commercial and business risks to achieve objectives and deliver shareholder value. In so doing, risks should be proactively identified and managed by our people, the most important resource within the organisation. Brolga Cranes and Equipment Pty Ltd has developed this Risk Management Policy to articulate general principles and provide a framework for the integration of risk management into day-to-day decision making.

    MANAGEMENT WILL:

    • Identify, record and address risks to the business and operations as far as is reasonably practicable

    • Manage business risks in an informed and proactive manner, such that the level of risk is commensurate with the potential business

    rewards

    • Develop an understanding of the risks and hazard faced by the business, their positive and negative consequences as well as the likelihood of

    those consequences occurring

    • Identify, evaluate and implement processes to manage hazard and risk exposure

    • Encourage, promote and support enterprising, prudent and robust decision making by management and operational personnel in relation to

    risk management

    • Implement governance and business practices to facilitate the management of risks

    • Regularly monitor the effectiveness of systems and processes employed to manage risk in decision making

    EMPLOYEES WILL:

    • Comply with all Brolga Cranes and Equipment Pty Ltd risk management systems and processes

    • Notify management if a procedure or system is ineffective or insufficient to control a risk

    • Notify management if additional risks that are not controlled by the existing procedures and systems are identified

  • Brolga Cranes and Equipment Pty Ltd. are committed to reducing the impact of our activities on the environment.

    We recognise the importance of the principles of environmental sustainability as well as the relevance these principles have to the industry and the communities in which we operate. Brolga Cranes and Equipment Pty Ltd will ensure that the way in which we operate will be in accordance with our obligations under the Environmental Protection Act 1994.

    MANAGEMENT WILL:

    • Establish and maintain environmental practices and procedures to minimize negative environmental outcomes

    • Ensure that the environment is considered in our business strategies, products and services

    • Train our employees to ensure they are aware of the potential environmental impacts of their actions as well as Brolga Cranes and Equipment

    • Take reasonable care that their actions does not adversely affect the environment

    • Engage in consultation with Management to improve environmental controls

    Drug & Alcohol Policy

    Drug and alcohol abuse contributes to billions of dollars of lost productivity and thousands of workplace injuries every year.

    Our policy is to employ a work force free from alcohol abuse or the use of illegal drugs.

    • Brolga Cranes & Equipment Pty Ltd takes drug and alcohol abuse as a serious matter and will not tolerate it.

    • Brolga Cranes & Equipment Pty Ltd absolutely prohibits the use of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs at the workplace or while on company premises. It also discourages non-workplace drug and alcohol abuse.

    • The use, sale or possession of alcohol or drugs while on the job or on company property will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination, and may have legal consequences.

    • Employees are expected and required to report to work on time and in appropriate mental and physical condition for work. It is our intent and obligation to provide a drug-free, healthy and safe work environment.

    • Brolga Cranes and Equipment Pty Ltd reserve the right to demand a drug or alcohol test of any employee based upon reasonable suspicion.

    - Reasonable suspicion include but is not limited to, physical evidence of use, involvement in an accident, or a substantial drop off in work performance.

    - Failure to take a requested test may lead to discipline, including possible termination.

    Brolga Cranes & Equipment Pty Ltd also cautions against use of prescribed or over-the-counter medication which can affect your workplace performance.

    - You may be suspended or discharged if the company concludes that you cannot perform your job properly or safely because of using over the counter or prescribed medication which may affect your performance.

    Employees must report any conviction under a criminal drug statute for violations occurring on or off Brolga Cranes & Equipment Pty Ltd premises while conducting company business. A report of a conviction must be made within (24) hours after the conviction.

    Brolga Cranes & Equipment Pty Ltd. will make every effort to assist its employees who wish to seek treatment or rehabilitation for drug or alcohol dependency. Conscientious efforts to see such help will not jeopardise any employees job and will not be noted in any personnel record. You may also be required to agree to random testing and a “one-strike” rule.

    • Not post any content that could be perceived to impersonate or falsely claim to represent Brolga Cranes & Equipment Pty Ltd or related person, its customers or industry associates

    This policy provides a safe and confidential environment for individuals who believe they have discovered illegal or unethical activities such as criminal activity, failure to comply with statutory obligations, improper conduct or unethical behaviour and attempts to conceal any illegal activity.

    MANAGEMENT WILL:

    • Investigate all formal complaints and report findings to the relevant authority

    • Ensure that internal investigations do not hinder formal police investigations

    • Protect the identify of those involved and treat all disclosures in a confidential and sensitive manner

    • Address any complaints of retaliation, bribery or intimidation against workers who in good faith report a concern about illegal or unethical conduct

    • Keep the complainant informed of the progress of the investigations and, if appropriate, of the outcome

    • Co-operate with any internal or external investigations
